La Luz es una micro "No-Escuela" bilingüe, basada en la comunidad que prioriza el aprendizaje experiencial, la construcción de relaciones y el desarrollo del carácter. Nosotros, en La Luz, creemos que todos podemos ser humanos mejor. Nuestro objetivo es proporcionar experiencias de aprendizaje auténticas para los niños para que puedan aprender más sobre sí mismos y los demás, así como desarrollar las habilidades, la mentalidad y el deseo de convertirse en agentes de cambio que mejorarán el mundo.
Los estudiantes participarán en experiencias de aprendizaje extendidas en organizaciones comunitarias como el Zoológico de Denver, así como en excursiones de aprendizaje al aire libre. La Luz adopta el concepto de "no escolar" y espera poder participar con la comunidad para cambiar fundamentalmente la forma en que educamos a nuestros niños con curiosidad innata.
Líder y Fundador
El Dr. Kyle Gamba ha sido educador y director durante varios años tanto a nivel local como internacional. Se siente muy apasionado por priorizar la construcción de relaciones y el desarrollo del carácter en la vida de los niños. Él cree firmemente que el rendimiento académico puede ser el resultado de que los niños se sientan cuidados y tengan un fuerte sentido de pertenencia. Es un ávido viajero, aventurero y buscador de diversión. Kyle, su esposa y sus tres hijos han vivido en el extranjero en México y Colombia y habla español con fluidez. ¡Espera conocerte!
Lead Educator - Alfredo Cervantes
Raised as a child in southwest Denver, Alfredo shares that he originally learned English by watching cartoons! Now years later, he and his wife have chosen to raise their daughters in the area as well. La Luz really appealed to Alfredo because it is serving students directly in his own community. He has a bachelors degree in molecular biology and an MA in medical science. Alfredo got his start in education at GALS as a middle school science teacher and worked there for four years. His favorite hobby is figuring out how things work. Alfredo was ecstatic when he found out that the parents and students at La Luz had chosen him as their lead educator. He promises he will not let them down!
Educational Counselor - Jubitza Figueroa
Jubitza recently moved from North Carolina and is stoked to uncover all of Colorado’s beauty and opportunities. The daughter of Honduran and Salvadoran immigrants, Jubitza proudly intertwines her identities in everything that she does. She is passionate about educating, elevating, and empowering people with similar identities. Jubitza graduated from Elon University with a degree in Political Science and Women’s, Genders, and Sexualities studies. When not at school you can find her out at a coffee shop or on a hike with friends. Jubitza is excited to start her professional career with La Luz, to be a part of such a revolutionary experience with amazing team members, students, and families.
