AN INDEPENDENT MICRO-SCHOOL/HOMESCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
FOR 6th and 7th GRADERS
WE PROVIDE AUTHENTIC LEARNING EXPERIENCES IN THE COMMUNITY PRIORITIZING RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
WHY LA LUZ?
Simply stated, school really hasn't changed in over 100 years and we know we can do much better! We want to see a fundamental change in the way kids are educated from teaching in a school to actually learning in the community. Learning should be more equitable, more engaging, more real-world, more in-line with current research, and really, more FUN!
HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?
We know learning can and should happen anywhere and at anytime, not just in a classroom! So we are working hard with partners in our community to create authentic six-week learning experiences. Sound different? It is! Check out our planning for learning experiences and our calendar for what learning will look like in the 2022-23 school year!
The COVID19 pandemic jolted us into a reality no one was prepared for. It also revealed many of the limitations of traditional models of school.
After community surveys and a year under our belt, we are super excited to share all we have learned.
